The Costa de la Luz runs from the Straits of Gibraltar to the Portuguese border, in the Southwest of Spain. The 'Coast of Light' is quieter and less spoilt than most regions, so you will see the real Spain on your holiday. Some of the finest beaches in Spain are on the Costa de la Luz, with broad expanses of soft white sand giving way to rolling sand dunes and pine trees inland. The reliable Atlantic breezes make the Costa de la Luz one of the best places in the world for watersports such as windsurfing and sailing.
Unlike most Spanish holiday destinations, the Costa de la Luz has small resorts dotted between old fishing villages and undeveloped stretches of sand. Inland, you can explore the spectacular mountains with their traditional Andalucian villages. The nightlife is quiet and peaceful, based around meals in original Spanish bars.
Islantilla is a quiet resort, mostly centred on the beach life. The resort has its own sailing school offering a choice of watersports – its location at the meeting point of the Atlantic and Mediterranean brings excellent winds. Along the coast you will find a scattering of unspoilt, picturesque seaside villages.
Beaches in Islantilla
The fine, white sands of Islantilla Beach run for more than 2km, making it one of the most spectacular beaches on the Costa de la Luz. The dunes and promenade separate the beach from the small number of hotels located on the seafront.
Holiday Shopping in Islantilla
This is a very quiet, small resort but there are some souvenir and gift shops, with a small shopping complex nearby.
Islantilla Nightlife
Again, the undeveloped nature of Islantilla means you will not find crowded, noisy nightclubs and discos. Nightlife mostly takes place in the hotels or at the nearby mall. Here you will find a few bars where you can enjoy chilled drinks and stunning views out to sea.
Local Specialities of Islantilla
The neighbouring fishing village of La Antilla has a selection of traditional bars and restaurants where you can dine on shellfish caught that morning.
