Head for Tenerife with its stylish resorts. Lively and sophisticated, Puerto de la Cruz clusters around a former fishing harbour; Costa de Adeje on the northern end of Playa de las Americas, is ideal for watersports and close to a 27-hole golf course; Playa de las Americas has an international atmosphere, with beaches of dark volcanic sands and Los Cristianos is south of Playa de las Americas, more sophisticated than its playful neighbour. Los Gigantes is situated in a stunning location on the southwest of the island. The little beach of black volcanic sand is cosseted by cliffs and the clear waters are excellent for snorkelling.
